Jealousy, as we found out, is a difficult subject to agree on. There are too many variables involved and too many different definitions at this point to come up with much unchanging information or many stable opinions. I just watched a movie in which a man was cheating on his wife with another woman. The other woman got pregnant and demanded that he leave his wife. He ended up shooting the other woman and staying with his wife. In an affair situation wouldn't it just be constant jealousy for the people in the adulterous relationship? He had to be constantly worrying about his wife finding out and leaving him, but also constantly worried that the other woman would get tired of being second and leave. He had both women's exclusive love, so would he have been twice as jealous? Also, what about the women? His wife did not know, but the other woman did know that she did not have his exclusive love. I am pretty sure that she could still be jealous. That's a problem with the definition given in class. It doesn't have to be exclusive love or even love. It started out as lust and grew into love. The definition should also include something about how the fear of losing that relationship may or may not be present consciously. What else should it include?
