I was not friends with the people I lived near freshman year. I think this is because we had completely different interests. Proximity can only do so much to increase the chances of a friendship forming. The group of girls in my hall who were friends had similar interests but there were quite a few of us who were not part of that group. I found myself to be friends with people who were scattered across the campus. I guess, thinking back, those people I was friends with were quieter, like me, and had more of my interests in common. The girls I lived with on my floor were very loud and that is something I have never found attractive in a friend. Anyone I talk to or attempt to socialize with has to have some sense of calm about him or her because that's the way I am.
