In relation to my freshman year friends, I think proximity did play a role but only for the first few weeks. I lived on the 2nd floor of McAuley and then the majority of people I met were on my floor through floor meetings and just seeing them in the halls and leaving for class. So, I gained a lot of friends, but soon enough I branched to other floors who I made friends with. But, for the most part I didn't have any friends at the Suites just a few because I never went there or saw anyone from there. So, distance does play a role, but in my case, I was friends with more people at McAuley just because it had the most guys to chill with and become friends with. The suites only had a limited amount so not much I could do.
