When it comes to online relationships, it is impersonal and easy to become attached and just as easy to detach yourself from another. People filter through thousands of people on websites like myspace, facebook, livejournal, etc... The internet has definetly changed the filter theory because nowadays people can filter out tons of other individuals by the matter of a few clicks. Now opposed to when the theorys were developed, people had to actually go out on a date or speak over the phone which may have been detachment enough back then to filter out individuals right away by certain standards. Technology is good, and we are always evolving, so expect this as normal in a way, we just have to go along with the new technologies and change our own filtering techniques so we don't filter out everyone and be super picky on who do and don't like.
